I just got back from a 4 week, 7069 miles (off)road trip on my 08 690. The bike performed flawless. Started at 12xxx miles and came back at 19xxx miles.

Key Takeaways: The Husqvarna 701 Enduro and KTM 690 Enduro R share the same platform, but there are key differences between the two bikes. The Husqvarna 701 Enduro has a slightly better weight bias, wider handlebars, and more padding on the seat for added comfort. The KTM 690 Enduro R features a slightly larger fuel tank and a built-in USB port
From my understanding, it looks like the 690 got a refresh in 2019. I've seen quite a few '20s and '21s at dealerships, and quite a few '15s and '16s on the used marketplaces. New arkups seem insane right now, so the used 15s and 16s seem like the better option/deal, but are the changes in the new refresh worth circling back and re-thinking
KTM 690 Rally MY21 is one of the most advanced and spectacular motorcycle designs on the market, which at the same time meets the standards allowing it to be used in road traffic. As a result, the machine can be easily registered and insured.

The 690 tranny is a pretty close ratio. Obviously, the 9XX will rule the road and the 690 will rule the off-road sections. I did part of the TAT on my 690 and it was perfect for that. The TAT is mostly gravel, so speeds are reasonably low. Fuel was not really an issue either. Bad thing is there is no perfect bike.
35 Location: S.E. Kansas So, I'm looking at buying a 690. I'm currently on a 2004 950 ADV and want to size down a bit. However, the range on the 690 is some concern. I see the Rally Raid tanks but WOW they are really proud of them. What are some of the alternatives to increase the range of the 690?
The very low centre of gravity design brings a lightness to its handling. The 690’s brakes are smooth and powerful, having the ABS braking on the front tyre gives you greater confidence that you’re not going to have the front end come out from under you in the skatey stuff. I really enjoy Adventure Riding and have previously owned a KLR 650
FUEL The 690 Enduro R only carries 13.5 litres and, on our trip, we chewed through about 4.5L/100km so I got just over 200km before my fuel light came on. I haven’t been on an adventure ride where I’ve seen a 690 R with the standard tank.
